Statera Energy is pleased to announce that Saltholme North Power and Saltholme South Power, two 50MW flexible generation plants, have entered into commercial operation. Located in Stockton-on-Tees, Middlesbrough, each site is comprised of 4 gas fired reciprocating engines and can reach its full output capacity in 5-10 minutes to provide a sustained delivery of electricity to the grid in times of high demand.
The generators are designed for delivering the lowest unit cost of energy, thereby helping to reduce the cost of electricity to all consumers, whilst meeting all current emissions legislation. The plants can also be readily adapted to take a blend of hydrogen once sufficient supply becomes available.
The Saltholme power plants have been delivered in conjunction with MAN Energy Solutions, the power and marine sector original equipment manufacturer and energy solution provider, and are part of the framework agreement between Statera and MAN to develop 300MW of highly efficient back-up power to the UK’s grid.
Statkraft, Statera’s strategic partner in bringing 1GW of flexible generation assets to market, will be offtaking the energy generated.
