Our Sustainability Approach

Sustainability Standards

We’re supporting the UK’s transition to a low carbon grid, working with local communities to provide lasting benefits and driving the highest standards in everything we do. Our assets are projected to save 4.8 million tonnes of CO2 emissions by 2032.

Technologies

Supporting the UK’s transitions to a low carbon grid

Our business plays a vital role in achieving national decarbonisation and energy resilience goals by delivering flexible, clean energy solutions that support the integration of renewables. While batteries remain central to our portfolio, we are expanding into technologies like hydrogen and pumped storage hydro (PSH), which are critical to a stable, low-carbon future.

Through innovation and optimisation, we are committed to continuously reducing the carbon intensity of our portfolio, while ensuring the reliability and stability of the grid. Projects like Loch Kemp PSH and Kintore Hydrogen are clear examples of this. These assets will help balance the grid, reduce carbon intensity, and provide reliable clean energy—supporting both net-zero targets and high-skilled employment across the UK.

Lasting benefits

Working with local communities

We believe that delivering sustainable energy solutions goes hand in hand with supporting the communities where we operate. We are committed to creating a lasting legacy by:

Creating Local Jobs

Our projects generate employment opportunities and help build a skilled workforce, with a focus on supporting just transition pathways for workers from traditional energy sectors.

Fostering Skills

Our apprenticeship programmes prioritise young people local to Statera sites, providing hands on experience, professional development and creating community employment opportunities.

Protecting and Enhancing the Environment

We integrate environmental stewardship into every stage of our project development, working to preserve biodiversity, enhance natural habitats, and reduce our ecological footprint.

Building Long-Term Partnerships

We collaborate with local authorities, landowners, and residents to ensure our developments align with community priorities and deliver shared value over the long term.

Investing in Local Communities

We actively engage with local stakeholders to ensure our projects bring meaningful benefits, including community investment initiatives that support education, wellbeing, and local infrastructure.

We are committed to setting the highest standards across all aspects of our work. We “go beyond” to be the best in class, operating in a constant cycle of innovation and optimisation.

Safety

We work in complex and dynamic environments, and we recognise that maintaining the highest safety standards is essential to delivering reliable energy solutions.

That’s why we:

  • Embed safety into our culture, ensuring it’s a shared responsibility across all teams and partners.

  • Strive for zero harm, with a target of zero Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) incidents across all construction and operational activities.

  • Continuously improve, using data, feedback, and innovation to strengthen our safety practices.

  • Invest in training and development, empowering our people with the knowledge and tools to work safely and responsibly.

Workforce

Investing in People

We believe our people are our greatest asset. Building a better workforce means creating an environment where individuals can grow, thrive, and contribute meaningfully to the energy transition. We’re committed to:

Empowering through development

We’re increasing our investment in training and development, ensuring our team has the skills and knowledge to lead in a rapidly evolving energy sector.

Championing Diversity

Statera has a diverse workforce of different genders, ethnicities, nationalities and abilities, where everyone has equal opportunities to succeed and grow.

Creating a culture of excellence

Through continuous learning, collaboration and innovation, we’re building a workplace where people feel valued, supported and inspired to do their best work.

Supporting a Just Transition

We actively create pathways for workers from traditional energy sectors to transition into clean energy roles, helping to build a resilient and future-ready workforce.
